June, 2008, Sandi DeMaster was ordained to the deaconate of the Roman Catholic Church under the auspices of Roman Catholic Women Priests.  Shortly after her ordination to the deaconate, the United Methodist Church pastor in McMinnville, having read news of the ordination, offered “sanctuary” within their own facilities, McMinnville Cooperative Ministries.  A small group of like-minded souls, identifying themselves as Lumen Christi, began to meet regularly for bi-weekly Eucharistic celebrations.  Until Sandi was ordained to the priesthood, these first masses were facilitated in McMinnville by Toni Tortorilla, a Roman Catholic Woman Priest from Sophia Christi Catholic Community in Portland.
